Vietnam Flag
The Vietnam flag is known as the “Red Flag with Yellow Star” used by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This flag was then later adopted in 1955 by North Vietnam, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. In history, the Vietnamese flag was adopted as the national flag after the Vietnam War in 1976. The Flag of Vietnam has a yellow five-pointed star in the center of a red background. In the history of the Vietnam flag, there have been two meanings of the five-pointed star and the red color. After 1945 the meaning of the Vietnam flag for the red color was a representation for the struggle of independence, wile the yellow for the star represented the color of the Vietnamese people and the five points stood for the classes of people in Vietnam (Scholars, peasants, craftsmen, merchants and soldiers).
After 1954, when the communist party ruled over North Vietnam and the same after 1975 when they ruled over South Vietnam, the yellow star is often described, as a representation of the leadership of the communist party of Vietnam and the red is the color for the proletarian revolution during that time.
The flag of Vietnam was designed by Nguyen Huu Tien in the 1940s. The Vietnam flag from 1945 to 1955 looked very similar to the current Vietnam’s flag.
